Dean Anderson, 92, of Silver Bay, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 11, 2012 in the Minnesota Veteran's Home in Silver Bay.
He was born on November 17, 1919 to Andrew and Mattie (Spitzer) Anderson in Pequot Lakes, and later moved to Jackson, Minnesota. At age 14 the family moved to the farm on County Rd 3, west of Beaver Bay. Dean served in the Navy Seabees as boatswain's mate 2nd class on Okinawa, New Hebrides, and Espiritu Santo Islands. He received an honorable discharge on October 30, 1945. He then returned to his trapping, hunting, and logging. He married Bonnie in 1946 and later had two sons. Dean started farming beef and hogs in 1952. He worked construction building Silver Bay and the railroad. He married Dorothy in 1988.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Vera Anderson Haveri; and his wife Bonnie Belle (Ostman) Anderson.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy Carr Anderson; sons, Allen (Sherry) and Tim; grandchildren, Jeff and Jessica Anderson (Mike Johnson); great-grandchildren, Dexter James, Jordan, and Lainey.
Memorial Service will be held at 2 PM Friday, June 15, 2012 at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Silver Bay.
