Darrell Lee Carter, 79, of Silver Bay died Saturday, October 17, 2015 at Ecumen Scenic Shores in Two Harbors.
He was born on December 14, 1935 to Fay B. and Thelma (Heding) Carter in Sumner, IA. At age 2, he moved to the Carter farm in Becida, MN and later graduated from Bemidji High School in 1953. Darrell began working at Reserve Mining Company in 1955, retiring in 1998.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Vernon Carter; wife, Frances (Swanson) Carter; step-daughter Barbara (Swanson) Cooper; and step-son Michael Bromaghim.
Darrell is survived by his wife of 13 years, Carol (Bromaghim)Carter; sister, Judy Millar; children LeeAnn (Mike) Johnson, Dean (Judy) Carter, and Larry (Tammy) Carter; grandchildren Joel Kerwin, Jenny Lamb, Lyndsay Sauer, Kari Carter, and Warren, Marina, and Cora Carter; great-grandchildren Will, Halle, Riley, Ari, and Isla; stepchildren Barbara (Bromaghim) (Chuck) Maki, Sandy (Larry) Raddatz, Gail (Dave) McGhee, Tammy Swanson, and Larry Swanson; 8 step-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 10 AM until the 11 AM funeral service on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at Sychar Lutheran Church in Silver Bay. Burial will follow at Sawtooth Mountain Cemetery.
