DANIEL W. KNAFFLA
Daniel W. Knaffla, 51, of Silver Bay, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on July 19, 2011 at Solvay Hospice House in Duluth.
He was born January 29, 1960 to Leslie and Alma (Allison) Knaffla in Tacoma, Washington. Dan graduated from William Kelly High School in Silver Bay in 1979, and two years later his daughter Shara was born in 1981. Dan worked at various places along the North Shore, most recently North Shore Mining in Silver Bay.
He enjoyed picking agates, four-wheeling, and fishing. Dan especially enjoyed two recent trips he took; salmon fishing on the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska and snorkeling in the Grand Cayman Islands.
He is preceded in death by his father Leslie in 1997.
Dan is survived by his daughter Shara (Rocky) Knaffla; step-children James and Amanda Warzecha; grandchildren Thatcher and Nya; mother Alma; sisters, Janet (Jerry) Goerdt, Diane (Justin) Barfuss, Pam Kettunen (Bart Reed), and Cindy( Robert) Wilson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He fought a courageous battle with cancer for 3 years and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Visitation will be from Noon until the 1 PM Memorial Service on Monday, July 25 2011 at Cavallin Funeral Home in Two Harbors.
