DR. DANIEL L. GUALTIERI
Daniel L. Gualtieri, 88, Two Harbors, died Monday October 11, 2010 in the Minnesota Veteran's Home in Silver Bay.
He was born September 27, 1922 to Leonardo and Olga (Tett) Gualtieri in Two Harbors, where he grew up and attended schools. During World War II he served in the U. S. Navy on a hospital ship off the coast of China. He graduated from the University of Minnesota Dental School in 1950. He returned to Two Harbors in 1953 and practiced dentistry until retiring in 1988. After retiring he served the needy at a medical/dental mission in Cameroon, West Africa. Earlier he served at a mission to Navajo Indians in Ganado, Arizona, and in Belize.
Dan was a member of Grace Baptist Church, Two Harbors and the American Legion.
He is preceded in death by parents.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; sons David of Seattle, Washington and D.Lee (Terri) of Maple Plain, MN; daughter Gina (Scott) Andrus of Plymouth; brothers Virgil of Los Altos Hills, CA and Dr. Wm of Madison, Minnesota; grandchildren, Rebekah, Mitchell, Brian and Ashley.
Dan's family would like to thank the staff of Lake View Memorial Hospital for the special care they gave in the past few years and to the staff of the Minnesota Veteran's Home for their care in Dan's last 18 days.
Visitation will be from 2 PM until the 3 PM service on Saturday October 16, 2010 at Grace Baptist Church in Two Harbors. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Grace Baptist Church 508 7th St or Senior Citizen Workshop 5l6 South Ave both in Two Harbors, MN 55616.
