Clarence W. Goette, 88, Finland, died peacefully at home on Thursday, August 6, 2015 with his family nearby.
Clarence was born September 28, 1926 to Frank and Barbara (Herriot) Goette in Crosby and attended schools in Prairie Lake, Crosby and Emily. As a member of Operating Engineers Local #49, he traveled for work for many years, later working for the Lake County Highway department from the Finland garage until his retirement.
Clarence was a Boy Scout Leader, served on the board of Lake Superior School District for eight years, and was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, the Finland Historical Society, and the Conservation Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting gardening and ricing.
Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers, William, Harvey, and James; sisters, Caroline Starry and Lillian Goette; daughter, Jayne Conway; and grandson, Coal Goette.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred; children, Ronald (Charlene), Richard (Shawn), Patti, and Jon (Wendy); son-in-law, Greg Conway; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Reno; and a brother, Paul Goette.
A celebration of Clarence’s life will be held at the family home at 1 PM on Saturday, September 26, 2015.
