After a courageous battle with cancer, Christine E. Lind, age 63, passed away on June 4, 2012, at her home in Two Harbors, Minnesota, surrounded by family and friends.
Chris was born in Cloquet, Minnesota on April 6, 1949 to Larry and Bea Carlson. She graduated from Barnum High School in 1967 and the University of Minnesota Duluth in 1971, with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and Special Education. She taught special education in Lake Superior School District for 35 years and retired in 2010. Chris married Russell Lind at Salem Lutheran Church in Mahtowa, Minnesota on July 23, 1977. She attended Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she was active on the Christian Education board, a frequent usher, lector and Sunday school teacher, among many other duties. She was a long time member of the Two Harbors City Band as well as secretary, treasurer and uniform manager. She also belonged to the ADK teacher's sorority, Knife River DAC and Spiritwind choir.
Chris loved spending time with her grandkids, taking lots of pictures and making lots of photo albums, baking, flower gardening and spending time at church activities and coffee groups with friends. She was loved by everyone she knew, and was always thinking of what she could do for others first. She was the "rock" that everyone could depend on and the glue that held everything together.
Chris is preceded in death by her parents Bea and Larry.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years Russell; children Scott and Beth; other daughter Heather (Carr) Swanson; and grandchildren Evan, Jacob, Alexis and Mazie. She is also survived by Uncle Don (Gail) Carlson and many nephews, nieces, cousins, family and friends.
Visitation will be from 10 AM until the 11 AM memorial service on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Two Harbors. A luncheon will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and will be given to her favorite charities; DAC, Wolf Ridge, American Cancer Society, and Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
