Charlie Oling, 67, of Two Harbors, died unexpectedly August 1, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth.
He was born December 27, 1950 to Wilbur and Margaret “Dolly” (Johnson) Oling in Duluth. A life-long resident of Two Harbors, he graduated from high school in 1969 and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business from UMD. During his college years, Charlie began bartending at the VFW, which he later managed for a number of years. It was at this time he had the opportunity to work with the love of his life, Carol. Charlie was later employed as the administrator and bar manager for the Loyal Order of Moose; and also worked for API Outsourcing until his retirement.
Charlie achieved one of the highest honors the Loyal Order of Moose can bestow, his Pilgrim Degree. The Two Harbors Lodge honored him by purchasing his Life Membership.
In his free time Charlie enjoyed fishing, especially with his brother-in-law, Art and loved the time he was able to spend with his grandchildren and great-grrandchildren.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents; wife Carol; and brother-in-law, Art.
He is survived by his step-sons, Dale, Gary (Deb) and Scott Beck, step-daughter, Sandy Beck; grandchildren, Leah (Aaron), David, Tina (Sean) Beck and Ashlee (Michael) Doyle; great-grandkids, Samantha, Jasmine, Alden, Ashton, Kory, Lucy, Rees, Cale, Jev, Blake, and Harper; brothers, Jay (Carol) and Lee (Kay); sisters, Sandy Andler, and Susie Walz; and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
A social hour will be held from 2 PM until the 3 PM Celebration of Life on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge.
