Carol I. Houle, 90, of Two Harbors, died Monday, March 22, 2021.
Carol was born to Herman and Alva (Pearson) Peterson on January 10, 1931 in Two Harbors, where she grew up and graduated from high school in 1949. She married Lloyd Houle on July 22, 1950 and they raised their family in Silver Bay, where Carol was an exceptional stay-at-home wife and mother through the years. She spent her entire life treasuring her family and friends and embraced every moment with them.
Carol was a member of Sychar Lutheran Church, the Order of the Eastern Star, and the VFW Auxiliary. A gifted artisan, she was awarded many blue ribbons for her hardanger, cross-stich, quilting and knitting, gifting those she cared for with many treasures. She and Lloyd also enjoyed traveling with family and friends, time at the cabin, puzzles and card-playing.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lloyd; brothers, Wilbur and Dick Peterson; and a sister, Lois Vontin.
She is survived by a son, David (Lorrie) Houle; daughters, Barbara Houle Schwanke (Lance), Beth Gunnarson (Jim), and Rennae Houle-Burns (Tom), 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Arlene Evans; nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Tiki.
Public visitation will be from 3-5 PM on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at Cavallin Funeral Home in Two Harbors. Due to COVID-19 precautions, services will be private.
