Bonifacio Fuentes

Bonifacio Fuentes, 86, Two Harbors, died Sunday, January 22, 2017 at the Benedictine Health Center in Duluth, with his family at his side.

Boni was born on October 6, 1930 to Bonifacio and Luisa (Torres) Fuentes in Jayuya, Puerto Rico where he grew up and attended schools.  Entering the U. S. Air Force in 1952, his first duty station was at the Finland, Minnesota Air Base. After his discharge from the Air Force he returned to Two Harbors, attended vocational schools and was employed as a welder at Moline Manufacturing in Duluth from 1968 until retiring in 1992.

Boni was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the Loyal Order of Moose, and the American Legion. He was also a long-time volunteer at the Minnesota Veteran’s Home.

Boni was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joanne; sister, Nilda; and brothers, Augustine, Thomas, Jaime.

He is survived by children, David (Liza Pai) of New Smyrna, FL, Bonnie Fasciana of Duluth, Rita (Greg) Pelton of Duluth, and Dan (Gerri) of Tamarack; grandchildren, Chad, Pat, Stephanie, Andrew, Marie, Tara, Trisha, Tanya, Kylie, and Alec; great-grandchildren, Riley, Logan, Averie, Catie, Nolan, Amber, Alyssa, Emma, Dakotah, Ricky, Aria, Coy, Jase, Kyler, Hailie, Landon, Callaway, and Dax (due in March); and a great-great-grandchild, Genevieve.

Visitation will be from Noon until the 1 PM Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Two Harbors.   Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery.
