Betty Mae Hart Duresky Richards, 86, Silver Bay, died peacefully, surrounded by her family on Monday March 10, 2014 in St Luke's Hospital.
She was born on September 5, 1927 to Sidney and Helen (Ohotto) Hart in Littlefork, MN where she grew up and attended school with her 4 brothers and 1 sister. Betty moved to Silver Bay in 1960 and worked at Reserve Mining Co. until her retirement in 1985. On July 10, 1975 Betty married the love of her life, William Richards, whom she spent 32 memorable years with.
She was worthy matron of the Eastern Star Chapter #160. She loved living in northern Minnesota; enjoying fishing, camping, bird watching, gardening, and feeding the many deer in her back yard. She spent a great deal of time entertaining the many friends and family whom she dearly loved.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 32 years, Bill; brothers, Sidney Bill and Kenneth Hart; and sister, Verna Hart.
She is survived by her brothers, Dale of Kingman, AZ and Wallace of Silver Bay; son, James (Veronica) Duresky of Silver Bay; step-children, Billie (Marc) Ashley of Reno, NV, Margaret Hoff of Duluth, Mike (Patty) Richards of Finland, Patrick (Sherry) Richards of New York Mills, MN, Jackie Cavalier and Scott Richards of Minneapolis, and Janice (Milan) Jirmasek of Salol, MN; 21 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 10 AM until the 11 AM service on Friday, March 14, 2014 at the Clair Nelson Center in Finland. Burial will be in Crystal Bay Cemetery.
