August 23, 1960 — December 17, 2014

Beth Marie Schield, 54, Two Harbors, received the best Christmas gift of all, as she won the victory over sin and death by grace through faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She entered the Church Triumphant on December 17, 2014. She died at home.

She was born on August 23, 1960 to Donald and Alice (Blasel) Nelson in Medford, Wisconsin.  She graduated from Stevens Point Senior High School in 1978, from UW-Stevens Point in 1984, and earned a Masters Degree from there in 1990. In 1982 she married Kirk Schield. They were married for over 32 years, until the time of her death. She taught Family and Consumer Sciences at Port Edwards High School until she chose stay home to raise her children. She and her family lived in Fort Collins, Colorado from 1995 to 1997, when they returned to Stevens Point.

She taught 5th grade from 2000-2001 at St. Paul Lutheran School in Stevens Point until her family moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana. In 2004 she moved with her husband and family to Two Harbors. She formed and led several 4-H groups in Wisconsin, Indiana and Minnesota. She home-schooled her children through their graduations from high school and she very much enjoyed her role as wife, mother, gardener, runner, MOPS mentor, and as volunteer coach of the Two Harbors High School cross-country team for 10 years.

She is survived by her husband, Kirk, her sons Daniel, of Wausau, WI, and Benjamin, of Thief River Falls, MN, and daughters Anna, of Minneapolis, MN, and Sara, of Superior WI; parents, Donald and Alice Nelson of Stevens Point, WI; and sisters, Sharon Maloney of Avon, IN and Cindy Marczak of Stevens Point, WI.

Visitation will be from 9 AM until the 11 AM Funeral service on Monday, December 22, 2014 at Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church in Two Harbors.  Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to LC-MS World Mission, Concordia Theological Seminary, or POBLO International.

As St. Paul said in 2 Timothy 4:7and 8, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.”
