Bernice Sandness

Bernice W. Sandness, 94, of Eden Prairie, formerly of Two Harbors died Sunday, August 4, 2013 at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park.
She was born May 21, 1919 to Louis and Helen (Werschler) Wendlandt in Duluth, where she grew up. Bernice moved to Two Harbors in 1940. She was employed by Lake Superior School District as a secretary for 19 years until retiring in 1984. Bernice was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Eden Prairie, and Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Two Harbors.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Allen in 1995, son Thomas in 1960, brother Louis Wendlandt, sister Lorraine Austin, and son-in-law Francis Smith.
Bernice is survived by sons, Richard (Mary) of Shoreview and Steven (Susan) of Eden Prairie; daughter, Kathleen Smith of Anoka; grandchildren Steven and Thomas Sandness, Kurt (Betsy), Michael (Trish), and Peter (Polly) Sandness, and Kevin, Bryan (Ann), Debbie, and Greg Smith; great-grandchildren Kaleigh and Koury Sandness, Madeline and Chloe Sandness, Maren and Tyler Sandness, and Breanna and Brennan Smith.
Visitation will be from 12 Noon until the 1 PM service on Friday, August 9, 2013 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Two Harbors. Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers to Bethlehem Lutheran Church Music Program.
