Avis Johnson, 79, of Two Harbors, died Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospice in Duluth.
She was born October 20, 1938 to Carl and Emmy (Erickson) Magnuson in Two Harbors where she grew up and later graduated from Two Harbors High School. Avis attended Duluth Business University for a year, earning a secretarial certificate. Avis worked as a secretary at the Lake County Courthouse for Judge Egeland for many years. She married Waddon “PeeWee” Johnson and they raised their family in Two Harbors. Avis later worked as a secretary for Lake County Auditor MelRoy Peterson.
Avis was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, the Chordaires, Superior Sound, and many choirs led by Daryl Johnson. She enjoyed playing cards and word games, and watching her children and grandchildren participate in local sporting events.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Waddon “PeeWee” Johnson.
Avis is survived by her children, Steve Johnson, Scot (Cindi) Johnson, Michael (Jean) Johnson, and Marcy (Robert) Engelson; sister, Lois Loudon; grandchildren, Brianna, Marissa, Corey, Tyler, Tanner, and Kelsey; and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until the 10:30 AM Memorial Service on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
