Audrey Grudnosky

March 5, 1919 — November 1, 2019

Two Harbors

There was a little girl named Audrey born on March 5th, 1919 to Fabian and Cornelia Poulin.  Audrey was the youngest of four.  Two brothers, Raymond and Walter and a sister, Genevieve.

As she grew up in Two Harbors, she had many interests and friends.  One day she met a boy named Arnold Grudnosky.  They fell in love and got married on July 15, 1939.  They started their family in 1941 with the arrival of a daughter, Susan and another daughter in 1945, Jeanne.  Audrey was a stay at home mom; we knew she would always be there no matter what.  In 1958, much to everyone’s surprise, Walter came along, the boy Arnold wanted.  In 1971, Arnold left us.  Audrey took on both roles of Mom and Dad for Walter and did a great job.

All three children got married and had children.  Audrey had 9 grandchildren.  Susan’s: Mark, Craig, and Christine; Jeanne’s: Chuck, Daniel, and Dena; and Walter’s: Nick, Jessica, and Anthony.  Audrey was always there to help Chuck, Dan, and Dena as they lived in the same town and they loved her for that.

Audrey was very artistic.  Through the years she dabbled in painting, from canvas to decorative chairs to rosemal.  She also liked to knit items for the grandchildren.  Sewing, along with counted cross stitch, and needle point; we cherish all her works.  She was just a crafty person.  Susan and Jeanne always had their birthday parties together and she would make favors and always hid money in the cake, to the delight of everyone.

She was also very active.  Audrey would exercise with Jack La Laine in the mornings, something she kept doing into her 90’s.  She took up bowling and had her very own engraved ball.  In the later years, Jeanne took Audrey the ball and together they had a great time.  During the winter, Audrey liked to cross country ski and curl.  During summers she loved to golf, no wonder she stayed in such great shape.

Audrey tried her hand at working outside the home as a teacher’s aide.  She worked with kindergarten classes at the John A. Johnson for a few years as well.

She was known as a caregiver to many people whom she loved, and she was always ready to listen and give support to the same.  She is loved and will be missed by so many.

Preceded in death by husband Arnold Grudnosky; daughter Susan (Grudnosky) Pfeiffer; grandsons Chuck Ryan and Mark Pfeiffer; sister Genevieve (Poulin) Tippet; and brothers, Raymond and Walter Poulin.

Audrey is survived by daughter Jeanne (Richard) Ryan; son Walter (Jenny) Grudnosky; grandchildren Craig Pfeiffer, Christine (Ken) Beasley, Dan (April) Ryan, Dena (Mark) Ryan, Nicholas Grudnosky, Jessica (Virgil) Grudnosky, and Anthony Grudnosky; great-grandchildren, Megan Wentz, Danielle Wentz, Linnea Wentz, Billie Ryan, Zoie Ryan, Casey Ryan, Annalisa Grudnosky, and Jameis Johnson; great-great-granddaughter, Lily Wentz; and many nieces and nephews.
