Arnold LeClair, 91, of Two Harbors, died Thursday, December 16, 2010 in the Sunrise Home.
He was born July 19, 1919 to Peter and Elizabeth LeClair in Two Harbors where he was a lifelong resident. Arnold graduated from Two Harbors High School in 1937, attended Duluth Junior College for two years and was subsequently employed by the First National Bank, (now Wells Fargo Bank). He married Evelyn V. Carlson of Silver Creek on April 22, 1942. On August 14, 1942, Arnold entered the US Army and was discharged as Staff Sergeant from Fort Warren, Wyoming on February 1, 1946 and returned home for employment by the bank, where he worked for 40 years, retiring as president and CEO in January 1979.
Arnold was active in the First Presbyterian Church (United Church) as treasurer and trustee for 20 years, President of the Two Harbors Civic Association, President and Treasurer of the Rotary Club for many years, finance chairman of the Two Harbors Industrial Development council, and was a member of the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Evelyn, daughter, Susan Rosenbush; grandson, Kyle Rosenbush; brother, Leo; and sister, Jewel Standish.
He is survived by his son, Stephen (JoAnn) LeClair of Burnsville; son-in-law, William Rosenbush of Duluth; grandchildren, Lon (Christine) LeClair, Michael (Elizabeth) LeClair, Christine (Jon) Dahl, Trever (Kris) Rosenbush, and Jennifer (Greg) Ridgon; great-grandchildren, Katherine, John, Fredric, Jacob, Rebecca, Cassidy, Austin, Amelia, Gwen, Emma, and Cole; and step-great grandchildren, Autumn, and Aleq.
Visitation will be from 1 PM until the 2 PM Service Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at the United Church of Two Harbors. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery.
