Archie Kirk Jr, 74, of Hovland, died Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth.
He was born on October 5, 1942 to Archie Kirk Sr. and Erma (Knott) in Pine River. Archie grew up at Kirk’s Landing Resort near the end of the Gunflint Trail. He was in the U.S. Navy (Seabees), proudly serving his country in Viet Nam earning an honorable discharge. Returning to Cook County, he spent many years as a builder of homes and cabins; his craftsmanship was always admired. In 1993, he traveled to Russia and met Natasha in St. Petersburg, and “two souls found each other from opposite sides of the earth.” They were married on February 2, 1994. In recent years they have spent their winter months in Silver Springs, Florida, where they became members of St. Basil the Great Orthodox Church. Family and friends in Minnesota, California, Florida, Russia, and other places miss him deeply, and thank God for his life.
He is preceded in death by his parents and son, Ivan Kirk.
Archie is survived by a deeply loving wife of 23 years, Natasha; son, Jordan “Jordy” (Heidi Doo Kirk); step-son, Daniel Chingarev (Jurgita); and six grandchildren.

Rite of Christian Burial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 4957 E. Highway 61, Hovland, Minnesota. Burial will follow at Poplar Grove Cemetery in Grand Marais.
