Anthony Paul Olson, 69, passed away Friday, April 29, 2011 at Stewart Memorial Hospital in Lake City, Iowa.
Tony was born January 15, 1942 in Two Harbors to Karl and Helen (Wick) Olson. He graduated from Two Harbors High school with the Class of 1960. In 1961, Tony enlisted in the United States Navy and served three years on an aircraft carrier as an electronics technician. Following his honorable discharge, he was united in marriage to Judy Johnson on September 9, 1966. He graduated from the University of Minnesota Duluth in 1970, with a B.S. in Education. Tony worked for 24 years in various management positions in the telephone industry. All of his hard work paid off with an early retirement in 1993. Tony had several post retirement jobs, including Opportunity Living, Martin Hildreth Co., substitute teacher at RC/L High School, and assisted in the fall harvest with Greg Moe Farms. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, and a lifelong member of the VFW and American Legion.
Tony is survived by his wife of almost 45 years, Judy; son Steve (Stacy) Olson of Two Harbors; daughter Becky (Ken) Osland of Lino Lakes, MN; foster son Karl (Dawn) Oman of Duluth; grandchildren, Madison Olson, Anthony "Tony", Kennedy, and Michaela Osland; sisters, Karen Lindgren of Silver Bay, Lois (Ken) Lane of Donna, TX, and Cindy (Jeff) Milosevich of Aurora, CO; brother Alan (Barb) Olson of Oklahoma City, OK; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Karl and Helen Wick Olson.
Visitation - 5-8 PM Tuesday, May 3, at Cavallin Funeral Home in Two Harbors. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Two Harbors. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery, Two Harbors, with Military Honors by the American Legion Post #109.
