Alfred Goede

June 21, 1929 — June 8, 2013

Al Goede, 83, Two Harbors, died Saturday June 8, 2013 in Ecumen Scenic Shores. He was born June 21, 1929 to William and Augusta (Frick) Goede in Montrose, Minnesota, and grew up and attended schools in the central Minnesota farm country. He served in the U. S. Army following World War II and again during the Korean War. He married Carol Jean Carlsten on September 9, 1950 and for a short time they made their home in Hopkins, MN after his service in the Army, then lived in Silver Bay for a few years, before moving to the home he loved on Lake Superior.

Al was employed as a painter at Reserve Mining Company for many years, and later was a painting contractor. He enjoyed hunting, and fishing immensely and was an excellent baker and cook. He was a member of the National Rifle Association.

Al was preceded in death by his infant daughter Janelle, his parents, and 10 brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; a brother Ervin Goede of San Diego; and many nieces and nephews.

An informal gathering of family and friends will be held at 2 PM Friday June 14, at Cavallin Funeral Home in Two Harbors. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
