Alan Ruberg

June 15, 1938 — June 4, 2014

Al Ruberg made his final milk deliveries and went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by his family, on June 4, 2014. Al was born June 15, 1938 in Silver Creek, MN to William and Beatrice Ruberg. He attended school in Two Harbors, MN. Al began working at an early age logging with his dad, and as a mink rancher. He married Beverly Holmes on April 11, 1958, and recently celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary. Al worked for the DM& IR Railroad, Reserve Mining, and as a dairy distributor before starting his own dairy business "Al's Dairy" in 1968.

Al delivered milk to hundreds of homes and businesses in the North shore area for over 45 years. He loved his work which allowed him to work with his entire family and he enjoyed visiting with his customers along the way. Many of Al's customers became lifelong friends. Al was famous for visiting at local restaurants. He liked supporting his customers, as they supported him. He also employed many young men over the years, allowing many to work their way through college. Most have remained in touch throughout the years. Al's greatest joy was his family. He loved boating, fishing, snowmobiling, motorcycling, and spending time at the cabin. He was a kid at heart, water skiing into his 70's. He also loved his coffee gang. He served as a Deacon in his church for many years, and was also on the Salvation Army board.

Al & Bev were blessed with three children, who all worked for the family business for over 30 years. He also employed many of his grandchildren and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Duane, Gary, Steve, infant sister Marilyn, and sister-in-law Sherri.

Al is survived by his wife Bev, of Two Harbors; sons, Larry (Terri) Ruberg, David (Debi) Ruberg and his daughter Lee Ann (Jon) Hoven, all of Duluth and his grandchildren he loved so much; Amanda and Chris Ruberg, Samantha, Andrea and Alex Ruberg and Ben & Katie Lee Hoven. He is also survived by his sisters Delores (Dale) Tressler, Eileen (Bud) Wick and Karen (Connie) Marker and sisters-in-law Bonnie Ruberg, Wendy Ruberg, Kathy Ruberg and Dorothy (Wally) Carlson and many special nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Al's life will be held on Monday June 9th at 2:00 p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Two Harbors, with a visitation beginning one hour before the service.
