Gloria Jean Costello of Grand Marais, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2016 at the North Shore Health with her family at her side.
She was born September 21, 1938 to William and Myrtle Corey in Mobile, Alabama. While attending the University of Alabama she met and married her husband John Arthur Costello in 1959.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband John of 48 years.
Gloria grew up in Alabama and lived in many cities in the United States with her husband John. She was an accomplished artist and enjoyed creating sketches and oil paintings. She obtained a Bacehlor of Fine Arts Degree at the University of South Carolina, also two of her paintings were on display in the Museum of Art in Columbia, South Carolina. She also enjoyed playing the piano, singing and reading the Bible or Book of Mormon. She was a life-long member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and had many friends in the Stone Church congregation in Independence, Missouri.
Surviving are her daughter, Sheila Costello of Grand Marais; her sons, John J. Costello (Laura) of Indianapolis, Indiana, Michael E. Costello of Columbia, South Carolina and Kenneth P. Costello (Bernike) of Germany; three grandchildren, John D. Costello of Indianapolis, Indiana, Kylie and Jennie of Germany; sister Barbara Solomon (Ray) of Frankfort, Kentucky; nieces Sabrina Solomon and Rebecca Pearl of Frankfort, Kentucky; and half-brother Wesley Corey of Alabama.
A celebration of Gloria’s life will be held in Grand Marais. Schedule is pending.
